Welcome to The Society of the 3rd Infantry Division Website

On Saturday, April 30 over twenty members and guests got together for Outpost 54’s meeting at the Brass Door restaurant in San Ramon, California. All enjoyed the good food and conviviality.  It was a great opportunity to swap stories, meet old friends and make new ones.

This meeting included our annual awarding of scholarships to outstanding cadets from the Jr ROTC programs at Lowell High School in San Francisco and Skyline High School in Oakland.  The photo shows the scholarship table with MAJ Jerry Paramore from Lowell and LTC Jim Madison from Skyline (both standing) with scholarship recipients Cadet COL Crystal Chung (Lowell) and Cadet LTC Leon Moun (Skyline) and friends. It was a great
pleasure to hear from the students about how much the Jr ROTC program meant to them and about their plans for the future.

After the meal and subsequent raffle to help support the scholarship fund, LTC Andrew Jones, commander of Camp Parks Garrison in Dublin, California and 3rd ID veteran, told us a bit about activities at Camp Parks, which trains around 40,000 soldiers every year. After the meeting, a group of us toured Camp Parks. Thanks to LTC Jones and staff for the opportunity to see the Camp first hand!
